:: Miami/Orlando FL June 9-12, 2005 ::
We had a great time playing shows in Miami and Orlando. Thursday we played at Churchill's Pub in Miami. Big thanks to Baby Calendar, who rocked in sweet sweet harmony! It was great to meet Oscar Loo too! Cinema City was bustin' the moves and had duo guitar licks and energy galore.

We had fun hanging out with my two grandmas. One had a ventriloquist dummy, and she had me draw eyeliner on his lids to make him a little less creepy. (This photo is pre-eyeliner, but even afterwards, he was still creepy.)
She has a huge pool table.
My other grandma showed us videos of her playing her accordion and singing. She gave me a sweet sweet mumu.
We took turns playing my grandpa's georgeous Epiphone.
We played at the Wallflower Gallery on Saturday.
It is a cozy little place with great sound, art on display, and it smells incense-y-licious. Afterwards, we hung out with Manuel and Juan at Tobacco Road.
Then we drove up to Orlando where we played at Natura Coffee and Tea. S.Times (Brett) invited complete strangers to play on his songs -- brilliant! And Eric Hayden's set was so heartfelt. When some more of the Sugar Oaks joined him in their 3-part harmony....it was a beautiful, beautiful thing. Met a sweetie named Kristin.
They had hookahs too.
We saw Star Wars, some of us for the second time. And we ate a lot.
It was really great to see my family before we take off on our long European adventure.
I won't be able to update my website when we're traveling Europe this summer, but I will keep a journal on myspace. It's free to join, and you'll be able to check out the journal and photos. www.myspace.com/zapen
